I was the sole Product Designer in the Tango Labs department and worked on experimental apps separate from the main Tango App, but expanded the ecosystem. I got to own the UI designs and worked closely with my project manager on the user experience. I also was in charge Music Pix’s marketing channels and app store screens.
I worked with a diverse team of engineers and a project manager. There was one engineer dedicated to the iOS experience and one for the Android experience. I contributed to brainstorming sessions with my project manager for the experience of Music Pix. I also worked with the marketing department to strategize content to grow Music Pix’s tango channel.
Music Pix served as a fun tool for users to create slideshows of their photos paired with music. The goal of the app aimed to increase the engagement within Tango’s ecosystem, while also potentially acquiring new users to join Tango. The idea was centered around storytelling through photos and music that was easy to share to Tango and other social media platforms. In early 2015, they saw the growth of users and reached 300 million downloads for Tango’s main app, with 19 million DAU.
